Iyengar Yoga Classes

Yoga is a practical and holistic philosophy aimed at balancing the mind, body and spirit for optimum health and fulfilment. The practice of yoga postures brings vitality, strength, flexibility and a sense of well-being and calm. As well as toning the whole body, it improves posture and coordination.

People of all ages, shapes and levels of fitness may benefit from yoga. Classes consist of a combination of energising and relaxing exercises, which can be adapted to help people with limited movement, injuries, disabilities or medical conditions by means of a variety of ‘props’ and special programmes.

Fiona has practised yoga for over 35 years, and became a qualified teacher of Iyengar Yoga in 1992. She holds a Senior Intermediate Level 1 Teaching Certificate and is a teacher assessor for the Iyengar Yoga Association (UK).

In the words of 2 class members:

“Iyengar Yoga poses can be challenging, but the rewards are manifold. It’s a great opportunity to give muscles and limbs a really good stretch and at the same time improve posture and alignment – very beneficial after a day in front of a computer! Each class closing with a period of total relaxation I can be guaranteed to go home feeling not only stronger and taller but positive and relaxed. The classes are so interesting and enjoyable. In addition, classes take place in the tranquillity of Westbury Leigh Church Hall with ample parking and under-floor heating – sheer bliss in the winter months!” (Karen)

“The class is quietly inspirational: every class has left me feeling refreshed and renewed” (Anne S)
